Industrial Design Partner for Custom Electronics ODM
Industrial design partner for custom electronics ODM
WD Aroma ODM projects are designed with Shenzhen Fengqiao Industrial Design — an electronics-focused industrial design studio led by Mr. Gao. One team takes your product from first concept sketches to tooling-ready files and production follow-up.
Why it mattersThe design phase decides what an ODM project is worth
A diffuser that looks like every other unit on the shelf competes only on price. Industrial design is where your ODM project earns its own silhouette, its own CMF — color, material and finish — and a structure that can actually be tooled and assembled at scale.
A product, not another shared shell
A new appearance and CMF direction keep your line out of a direct price fight with identical-mold listings.
ID and structure developed together
Appearance modeling and mechanical structure move in parallel, so the design survives DFM review, mold making and assembly.
Fewer molds, shared internals
Modular internal structures reuse shared parts so only appearance shells need new tooling. A recent ceramic project cut 5 mold sets down to 2 and lowered tooling from $24,000 to $5,000 — see the case.

Oil-pod vaporizers
1 PROJECT · NEW · DISPOSABLE OIL POD + COIL ATOMIZATION
Featured program: a slim disposable vaporizer built around a sealed oil pod and a coil-based atomization system. The same platform carries over to custom essential-oil chambers for aroma and wellness brands — oil-chamber geometry, mouthpiece and shell finish are open for customization. Three shell finishes shown; the champagne-gold unit carries a laser-engraved client logo.

How it worksConcept-to-production design process
Six stages take an ODM project from a written brief to a factory-ready product. Stages 1–4 are the design track; stages 5–6 run together with mold making and production.
Design brief
Reference products, target dimensions, capacity and features, planned quantity and target market define the brief.
Concept & CMF
Hand sketches, concept renderings and the color, material and finish direction, reviewed before any CAD work.
3D CAD modeling
Appearance (ID) models and mechanical structure — housing, mounts, seals and assembly — built in parallel.
Prototype validation
Hand-board samples verify form, fit and function; prototyping starts at $100 per set with a minimum of 2 sets.
DFM & tooling
Design-for-manufacturing review produces mold-ready files; injection tooling runs about $3,000 per set.
Production follow-up
First-article checks, tooling adjustment and production-line support through to finished goods.
FeesDesign and prototyping costs on an ODM project
The design work above is billed as part of your ODM project using the same reference fees published on the OEM/ODM cost breakdown:
$1,500–$3,000 for CNC-metal projects; paid in advance.
Per set, minimum 2 sets — one kept on file, one sent to you.
Only when the project needs a custom motherboard or circuit.
Design and tooling fees may be refundable on volume orders; binding terms are stated on the formal quotation.
How do ODM customers work with the industrial designer?
WD Aroma’s industrial design partner is Shenzhen Fengqiao Industrial Design Co., Ltd., led by lead designer Mr. Gao. The studio covers concept sketches, CMF direction, appearance and structural 3D CAD, hand-board prototyping, DFM review and production follow-up for consumer and commercial electronics.
The design fee is $1,500 for most product types and $1,500–$3,000 for CNC-metal projects. 3D prototypes cost $100 or more per set with a minimum of two sets, and custom PCB design adds about $450 when required. Design and tooling fees may be refundable on volume orders; binding terms are stated on the quotation. Prototype work takes about one month; a full new-mold project takes about six months.
Buyers can also commission minor modifications to an existing WD Aroma model instead of a full new design; the team will confirm which path fits the brief and quote the design fee accordingly.
Frequently asked questions
- Who is the industrial designer behind WD Aroma ODM projects?
- Mr. Gao is the lead industrial designer at Shenzhen Fengqiao Industrial Design Co., Ltd. (深圳市枫桥工业设计有限公司), a Shenzhen studio focused on consumer and commercial electronics. The portfolio on this page shows 31 selected projects across eight product groups, including oil-pod vaporizers and two aroma diffusers designed for WD Aroma programs.
- What does concept-to-production industrial design include?
- Six stages: design brief, concept and CMF direction, 3D appearance and structural CAD, hand-board prototyping, DFM review with mold-ready files, and production follow-up including first-article checks and tooling adjustment.
- How much is the industrial design fee for an ODM diffuser?
- The reference design fee is $1,500 for most product types and $1,500–$3,000 for CNC-metal projects. It is paid in advance and may be refundable on volume orders; binding terms are stated on the formal quotation.
- Does the design fee include prototypes?
- No. 3D prototypes are billed separately from $100 per set with a minimum of two sets — one stays on file and one is sent to you. Custom PCB design, when needed, is a separate $450.
- Can I commission a minor modification instead of a full new product?
- Yes. If an existing WD Aroma model is close to what you need, the design team can change appearance, CMF or specific features around the shared internal structure — the “new market” path on the OEM/ODM page. The scope and design fee are confirmed after we see your reference and requirements.
- What do you need from me to start the design phase?
- A short brief: reference photos or products, target size or capacity, the features you want changed or added, planned order quantity and target market. Send it through the ODM inquiry page and the design work is scoped from there.
- How are design files and confidentiality handled?
- Project files, deliverables and usage terms are confirmed on your quotation and contract. If you need an NDA before sharing proprietary material, send it to your WD Aroma contact before the design phase starts.
